Building on success, award-winning Blue Sky CGI reaches higher and higher as it continues to meet the future in their latest project for Boeing 777X.
Boeing loves the way this dream team nails the details and connects vision to reality with top-flight design and technology. Recently, they asked the Blue Sky artists to create a series of 360 panorama images featuring the all-new 777X Business Class cabin for use on Facebook 360 with social media and mobile devices in mind.
The images not only had to look beautiful and photo-realistic, but also had to work seamlessly with Facebook’s 360 algorithm. Blue Sky had to develop the pano/360 images with specific metadata embedded in the imagery. File size also was critical for users to have an easy, smooth playback when viewed on their phones, tablets and computers.
Based on their 777X 3D model, Blue Sky developed 100% CGI rendering for unmatched realism and in-the-seat effects for the cabin. Instead of swiping to navigate on a phone or tablet, you simply point your phone to the direction you want to see—up, down, left, right—and on a computer just click and drag with a mouse. Blue Sky tested many different camera positions combined with lens variations to get a spacious feel for the new interiors.
In this first 360, the viewer is seated in the cabin, camera height and distance to the windows all add up to a modern and inviting look at business-class travel. Better altitude and humidity, temperature and sound quality are enhanced for a refreshing experience. Once the camera was in the chosen position, Blue Sky artists set out to light the scene. Natural window light raking through the cabin and mixing with blue light cascading from the ceiling complete the interaction. The 360 app is super cool, fun to use and a huge success with over 25K views and thousands more shared on Boeing’s Facebook page in just over a month.
